Classification and search

Curators assign studies and samples to a controlled vocabulary of categories: study, anatomy, genotype, phenotype, development, stimulus, and quality.

  • The study category applies to entire studies.
  • All other categories apply at the sample (library/run) level. As a result, a study may appear even if only a subset of its samples match.
  • Within a single category tree, selecting multiple checkboxes returns the union of those selections.

  • Across different category trees, results are combined by intersection (items must satisfy all selected trees).

  • Additionally, the two instant full-text searches are available: one for the category tree and one for the table. Both searches automatically expand the relevant tree nodes and table rows to reveal matches.
